Editorial policy & review process
Insurance is a “your money or your life” (YMYL) topic, so accuracy and transparency are core features of Tavenza, not afterthoughts. Here's how we research, source, review and correct what we publish.
Sourcing standards
Every rate figure is taken from an authoritative published source — actuarial, regulatory or established industry data such as the NAIC, the Insurance Information Institute, the IRS, CMS and KFF. We never invent or estimate figures to fill a gap. Each calculator cites its sources on the page, and the full provenance — including known limitations and any single-sourced data — is documented in our methodology.
Review process
Content is researched and written by Colson and checked against the cited primary sources before publishing. We are actively engaging a licensed insurance professional to provide an independent expert review of our rate content; until that review is in place, we clearly label every output as an estimate and direct you to a licensed provider for advice and exact pricing.
Not advice
Tavenza is not an insurer, agency or broker, and we do not provide insurance, legal or financial advice. Our calculators produce estimates for informational and educational purposes. Your actual price depends on the carrier and underwriting — always confirm with a licensed provider.
Freshness & corrections
Rate data is versioned by year (currently 2026) and refreshed on a cadence; each page shows a visible “last updated” date (most recently June 13, 2026). If you spot an error, contact us and we'll correct it promptly — a single wrong figure in insurance is unacceptable.
How we're funded
Tavenza is free, supported by advertising and affiliate partnerships — never subscriptions. Funding never influences our estimates. See how Tavenza works.
